Threatened Species Recovery Programs
Lord Howe Island Biodiversity Plan – this new plan is designed to act as a Recovery Plan for endemic and native flora and fauna. Rather than developing a single Threatened Species Recovery Plan for each nominated threatened species, the Plan takes a multi species approach by addressing the major threats such as weeds, rodents, feral pests, quarantine and climate change.
The Plan meets the requirements of NSW and Commonwealth Threatened Species legislation and prioritises recommendations to minimise the threats to both listed Threatened species and native species.
The Woodhen Recovery Program Lord Howe Island is the only place in the world where Woodhens (Tricholimnas sylvestris) are found in the wild. Due to the small population size of the Woodhens on Lord Howe Island, the Woodhen is listed as Endangered under the NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995.
